You all know that I love ‘white weddings’ with neutral floral arrangements and soft tones. This most recent wedding editorial I organised throws the wedding rules book out the window and opts for bold and vivid tones. Actually, it was inspired by the iconic American design artist Tony Duquette.
Being a destination wedding photographer who’s been lucky enough to travel across Europe,
Asia and the Middle East to capture many couple’s relationship milestone, I am always thrilled
to create something different.
Inspiration
The Dawnridge House by Tony Duquette is a space which blends colour, prints and eccentricity.
Such a blazing backdrop was the ideal inspiration for the luxury wedding scene and the perfect contrast with the detailed Ricca Sposa wedding dress by Laha.
Shot in the capital of Qatar, Doha, this setting was done by Plush events and it just screamed opulence through the use of intricate and colourful wallpapers. The furnishings have added an extra ‘oomph’ with incorporating unique shapes, rich textures and vibrant tones. This maximalist style of wedding décor is bound to make your guests’ speechless. It a perfect concept for those larger-than-life couples who admire and cherish maximalism.
Uniqueness is in abundance in this wedding editorial I photographed! Even the table décor has its own life of colour. Gold trimmed plates intensifies the luxurious feeling alongside the patterned glassware. A small area where pattern on pattern on pattern thrives, it would scare off the average couple. But those willing to push the boat out will be smug when they see the finished result.
As a wedding photographer, I have never seen such an extravagant wedding concept which features
a plethora of colour, prints and textures. I hope I will be capturing future weddings that have been inspired by this work.
